Three Kinds of People Part II
So to finish an earlier blog, if you want to be a risk taker this next year, then you need to do at least two things.
Goals to shoot for. If you want to invest your life in something that will last, it’s good to have a sense of where you want to go. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians mention that he was going to run the race to win. So if you and I want to run to win, we need to know where the finish line is. Which means we need to have some goals. Paul said "I don’t just box into thin air, I make every punch count." In other words, "I have a target." Like the old saying goes, "If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time."
So let me ask you, what are you aiming for this coming year, in your personal life, in your vocation, in your ministry? We need goals to shoot for.
Number two, not only do we need goals to shoot for, but we need promises to believe if we are going to be risktakers this coming year. For Peter tells us that "It is through God’s very great and precious promises that we experience the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires." A big pat of living by faith is simply believing God’s promises. There are over 7,000 in the scripture like blank checks waiting to be signed and received.
If we want to be risktakers this year, we need some goals to shoot for and some promises to believe. So, will you be a caretaker, an undertaker or a risk taker this coming year?
