An Avalanche of Newspapers Endorsing Obama
In the last election, John Kerry barely edged out George W. Bush in newspaper endorsements – 213 to 205, but this year, the tally as of this writing is 72 for Obama and 18 for McCain. The Chicago Tribune for the first time ever endorsed a democrat, and the Los Angeles Times endorsed Obama after not endorsing any presidential candidate for the last 30 years. The Tampa Tribune and the Dallas Morning News have endorsed McCain, but 14 papers (thus far) that endorsed Bush in the last election are going for Obama in this election.
