Rhythm of Life – Part I
Introduction
This past week I was speaking out in Virginia Beach area, sharing about how to develop a rhythm (or rule) of life. I’ve blogged about this before, but I thought I would share my rhythm of life for 2009 with you.
For me developing a rule of life is about developing a way of life in which we set the sails of our life to catch the wind of God’s Spirit. For living the Christian life is not a matter of trying harder, but of yielding to the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
This year, as I consider what was lost at the fall: Our relationship with God, each other, ourselves and creation, I felt a desire to develop a personal rhythm of life whereby I engage in different practices that would help me in the following four areas:
- Practices that help me grow in my intimacy with God
- Practices that help me love the world Christ died for (my neighbors, friends and enemies)
- Practices that move me toward personal wholeness (and holiness)
- Practices that help me engage in creation care
As I consider these four areas, I also consider what should I do daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually to better allow the wind of God’s Spirit blog freshly through my life. In the next entry on this series, I will share what I’m doing to grow in my intimacy with God. Stay tuned.

Could you please share how these four things work work out in practice beyond the contemplation of them?
Jason,
Good question. I’m glad you have a desire to know this. My intention in this series is to flesh this out in practice – thus the Part I in the title. In part two I will cover practices that help me grow in my intimacy with God. In part three of this series, I will cover practices that help me love the world for which Christ died for…. So stay tuned. I will flesh out specific practices in each of those four areas. As I post the other parts of this series please let me know if you have any questions.
By the way, I love the look of your blogsite. Peace.
