Praying with John Bell
In the face of Christ
who showed hospitality to strangers
we confess our awkwardness with difference
and the arrogance of our suspicion.
In the face of Christ
who wanted God’s house to be a place of prayer for all nations
we confess our hesitancy to share or even listen to
the truth by which others live.
In the face of Christ
who walked the land
which Arab Christian and Jew struggle to share,
we pray for a highway to appear through the desert of human desperation
that the land might be holy again
and all its people blessed.
Amen.
