Missional Learning Commons “Non-conference” Starts Today in Ft. Wayne IN
If you live in the Midwest, you should try and make your way to the Missional Learning Commons that starts tonight – Friday, January 8th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continues through Saturday.
I’m planning on attending this event along with other missional practioners and leaders from the Midwest, Canada and East Coast. David Fitch will be there as one of the hosts, Ben Sternke will be there as well as a number of other people you would know. Check out the attendance list on facebook.
It’s a totally free event. A time for collaboration, support and encouragement in how to incarnate the good news in our different contexts. Friday night there is a book discussion on The Next Evangelicalism: Freeing the Church from Western Cultural Captivity (Individualism, Consumerism and Materialism, Racism) by Soong-Chan Rah. By the way, this is a must read on why we need to have multi-ethic congregations today.
Some of Saturday’s topics include: Cultural Practices for Deeper Churches, Sharing a Deeper Gospel in Post-Christian Contexts, Should Deeper Churches Have Paid Staff? (A panel that I will participate on) and How Can Deeper Churches Become Multi-Ethnic.
Good to the Missional Learning Commons site to get more information. Also check out the Facebook event to RSVP. I hope to see you there. If I haven’t met you yet, please introduce yourself.

Hey man, great to meet you this weekend at the MLC. This was my first time gathering with these people (well, most of them, I knew David Fitch and Chris Smith beforehand), but I definitely hope it won’t be the last.
I post my ramblings on a more-or-less regular basis at my site, An Absolution Revolution. There’s an ongoing work to rebuild the site into a larger collection of radical Christian resources, though work has stalled a bit since my wife’s and my apartment building burned down a couple of weeks ago.
Peace be with you,
Jason
Jason,
Great meeting you as well. Thanks for a link of your site. I look forward to reading your paper. Peace.
