A Preview of My New Website – Would Love Feedback

So I have been working with Anna Condon Curtis and Bruno on my jrwoodward.com site for some time, and now I’m ready to announce the preview of this site to those of you who are regular followers of this blog.  This new site probably needs a few tweaks here and there, like some editing of content (there were too many late nights when I was writing content, so you can help me with any grammar or spelling if you see something).  But please take a moment and visit the site, explore it, and then come back here and give me some feedback.  I will continue to blog on this site, for the new site has other purposes.  Check it out and let me know what you think.  Your feedback would be appreciated.

    Hey Bro,

This site looks incredible. Very well done. Give Anna my regards and kudos for her work!

PS I’ll be at Catalyst West this week too!

    Hi JR,

Ok, here is some feedback for the site.

Love the content! Your stuff is very inspiring. However, the layout does little to help tell the story. The Font is in my opinion too cold for you. I like the orange. Video, video, video, the more the better, especially with your personality and vision and now days it is easy to do. Love your photography and the general mood of what you are communicating.

    Warmest,

    Dan

I have always found your blog and website to be a great resource I often go to for info and just to have fun. Such is the case with this website. It is definitely a site I will regularly peruse.

In terms of the layout, I think it is great as it is. There is one thing I did like about the site you used to have with the yellow background, and a pic of la and of you in the upper right corner. It had a lot of color that made it feel bright and fun. But this is just my preference, since I’m an art lover at heart who always liked Van Gogh with his big and bold colors! Some like it a bit more subtle.

I agree with Dan’s comment about video. Specifically, when I went to check out your messages, I found myself wanting to watch and hear, after all I am the visual artist type. Maybe this is something you can add in the future.

Having said all this, this is a great website, as it is. I will continue to comb through it and enjoy all the great resources you have provided. I appreciate all the hard work you put into this, and I know it will be wonderful point of connect for many.

Love the new site! I agree with the previous person who said the layout is not the best. Not sure what I would do to change it but it was a little difficult to follow.

    Also, a few grammatical errors:

Under the discipleship heading – “If you want to learn more about the way of Jesus, discipleship as well as some resources that will help you be a disciple of Jesus, check out the tabs on the upper righthand side of this page.”

you need a comma after discipleship and split right hand into 2 words.

Under the catalyst heading – “A catalyst is essentially a “change agent,” and in my vocation) a person who takes up the task of thinking deeply about how to embody the good news in ways that are faithful to God and genuine to our changing context.”

You need a ( in front and in my vocation) or you could do commas around it.

Under the missiologist heading – as well as the grammar of God – so that i can help communities of faith better embody the good news in the context we find ourselves.

Your I need to be capitalized.

Overall I think it is great. I will look again later but now I have to do some lesson planning

JR, Thanks for your inquiry and desire for feedback. Yeah, I like the content a lot. It is actually overhwelming to me there is so much here. I think those that know you and are familiar with your work and vision will love going here to read more and connect with other writers you suggest. I do think the layout could be warmer, as the above writer mentioned. I also encountered a few banner headline problems at the top when I would go back and forth between “My Story”, “My Writings”, “My Talks”, etc. Seems like the right banner would not entirely load the first time. When I hit reload though, it worked fine. Minor thing.

I know the header image up top returns to the homepage, but I think a link in words would be good somewhere too, if someone wanted to go back and they did not know the header image was a link to home.

I don’t know how you have time to do all of this.

    Very cool.

I’m not an expert when it comes to feedback on websites but I can tell you how it hits me. I love the look and content. Thanks for inviting me to check it out. What a wonderful resource of material. Also, thank you for your generous gift of Viralhope to all the pastors and staff at our conference. I will continue to enjoy it as I read more. It was a labor of love to put all these writers and what they have to contribute together.
    Thank you!
    Greg

Very cool! I like the image broken into columns as tabs.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Jen, thanks for the grammar and spelling feedback. Very helpful.

Brian, I’m guessing that you are commenting on this blog site, instead of the jrwoodward.com site, since those elements are not in the jrwoodward.com site. But you bring up a great point. I want to do something to simplify this site.

  9. Eric Asp

I like it, JR. I like the simplicity of the site navigation: My Story, My Community, My Talks, My Writings… And I like the overall “cleanliness” of the site. It feels like a great new beginning, and I wish you well in it.

Very nicely done, good looking website! You are a man of many talents and titles :) One piece that’d be great to add if the design can accommodate is a dynamic portion on the front page with title(s) of your latest blog post and your latest tweet (or 3).
