THE WORSHIP LEADERS
Michael Gungor began his musical career on a plastic guitar with plastic strings that he received for Christmas from his grandmother. He has led worship since high school and his musical style was influenced by many genres including jazz, rock, world music, and more he has released four albums, including Bigger Than My Imagination, which Christianity Today called “one of the year’s best worship albums from one of the most promising new worship leaders.” Perhaps Michael is best known for co-writing distinguishing songs like “Friend of God” and the Dove Award-winning “Say So.” His most recent CD is called Beautiful Things.
You will learn on his website that “A lot has changed in the past few years for Michael Gungor and his bandmates: new band name, new location – Denver, new church – Bloom Church (which he founded), a stellar new sound, and most importantly a new understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Michael says, ‘The story of God has gotten bigger to me.’ This bigger story of God shows up on Beautiful Things in songs born of an honest journey of faith and a struggle with what should result from worship.” Michael will be leading an acoustic worship set on Friday Evening at Denver 2010.
Brad Corrigan is a musician who was a member of the indie band Dispatch until their breakup in 2002. He is often known by the stage name Braddigan and has recently been touring with Reinaldo De Jesus (from Puerto Rico), Tiago Machado (from Brazil), and Paul Stivitts (from New York City). The trio just came out with an album – The Captive – which is over 50 minutes of music spread across 12 songs that demonstrate each member’s dynamic personality and their eclectic collective experiences.
Brad is not only concerned about social justice, but he is an activist who was featured on this ABC News report about changents. Be sure to listen in when they talk about Brad on the second half of the clip. One of the things he is active in is helping a group of people who are living in a land fill in Nicaragua. If you check out his site, you will see that he supports many organizations seeking to bring help to many. Brad will be leading our worship time on Saturday Morning at Denver 2010.
So not only do we have some great speakers, but we have some amazing worship leaders that are bringing a little more heaven to earth.
