Equipping God's People to Create Missional Culture

Love Your Enemies

If we want to live out our calling faithfully, we must must learn to be a community of people who bring the good news of forgiveness and reconciliation to people all around the globe.  We live in a violent world where most people opt for hate and revenge instead of love and forgiveness.  If we want to follow Jesus, we must follow his calling and like it says in Luke 6:27-28 we must learn to be a people who “love our enemies and do good to those who hate us, bless those who persecute us, and pray for those who mistreat us.”  We need to learn to build inclusive communities that learn the art of reconciliation and forgiveness.  This video is a simple lesson one what it means to love our enemies.

A simple yet wonderful illustration of what it takes to love our enemies. Even when people do us harm, we are still called to forgive and love. Of course this love is not a romantic type of love, but Agape–“disinterested love” as MLK referred to it. a love that is not interested in what we get back in return, but is mostly concerned with what it is able to offer our enemy.

For sure man. Pass on the agape love. Peace.

This might be the most difficult of Jesus’ teachings on what it means to be a person of his Kingdom. I work with teens and nothing challenges them more than when you ask them to picture the person they would most label as their enemy and then challenge them to love that person.

I don’t know if you’re familiar with Carl Madearis (www.carlmedearis.com), but he’s doing some of the most radical living in this area with his work in the Middle East.

    Thanks for the video.
