One Thing We All Need – Part I

People have been asking me to do some video’s for my blog for a while now, so here goes my first attempt at doing a series of videos. This video is raw, uncut and unedited. This series will be on “One Thing We All Need.”  I’m not going to tell you know what that is, you have to check the video out first.

This was shot at dusk, so the quality is probably a bit less than it will be in the future. I’m standing on the fire escape stairs just outside my kitchen window. I wanted you to hear a little of the noises that I live with daily.

I decided in part to jump into the world of video after getting my iphone 4 today. This phone makes it so easy to shoot a short video and send it to YouTube.  I hope you enjoy the series.  Let me know what you think about the whole video thing. Those of you who have been engaged in video for a while, please leave your advice for me as well. Like how are you supposed to look at the camera, eh?

Looked great, those phones are amazing. On the technical side, dusk and dawn are actually excellent times to film:

The camera movement was slight and that is okay but you might think about propping up the phone on some kind of stand and see how that works. Also seemed okay to look into the camera and then look away at moments. If you just stare at the camera it might be too intense and only looking away would be a bit more impersonal. Mostly just experiment with different ways of doing it and see which one you like the best.

    Chris,

Yeah, I think I it may have been just beyond dusk, but this camera in the iphone 4 made it much more light than it actually was. And yeah, I think I need to be a little more relaxed with the eyes. I’ll also test out propping the phone as you say. Thanks bro.

I like the video jr! your English is very sound and clear and it looks really relaxed and at the same time you seem to build up to a climax.
