Tomorrow Exponential 2011 starts. It should be a great time. I’ve not been to this conference before, so I’m looking forward to connecting with a lot of people. There should be some great talks during this time. I’m hoping to check a number of them out. If you are in Orlando at the event, please feel free to drop by one of my teachings during the day. If you are unable to come, I would appreciate your prayers. Here are the talks I have going on tomorrow.
Title: Missional Communities- Missional Church Primer – There has been a lot of buzz about the “Missional Church” this past decade, but when “missional” is applied to everything, it becomes devoid of its meaning. In this session we will take a wide-angle look at the missional church exploring recent history, theological distinctions and practices as well as contemporary missiologists who have shaped and are shaping the movement.
Time: Wednesday 9:00-10:00 am
Location: Faith Hall 301C-F
Workshop Session 1
Title: Missional Leadership: Living Out the Five Fold – If the church is going to faithfully rebirth herself in the Western context and cultivate a fruitful missional ethos, she must awaken the five equippers to live as cultural architects who awaken the entire community to join God in the renewal of all things. In this session we will move from theory to practice, taking a look at how we have been living this out in our churches in Los Angeles over the last decade.
Time: Wednesday 3:00-4:00pm
Location: Faith Hall 349
Workshop Session 2
Title: Embracing a Dangerous Mission – Jesus calls us to follow him into the world, which makes for an adventurous life filled with risks and rewards, joys and dangers. Part of the reason many young people are leaving the church today is because the church feels more like a country club rather than a community on a dangerous mission to bless the world. If we really want to follow Jesus, we must be willing to be rejected, to live simply, be peacemakers, agents of economic justice, and ultimately willing to suffer and die for his name’s sake.
Time: Wednesday 4:15-5:15
Location: Faith Hall 353
