Resting – Part 9
I’m coming to the conclusion of month one of Sabbatical, the month where I have has sought to bring my life to a screeching halt, to be still and know that He is God. So today I’m concluding this series as well.
The rest has been good. I’ve even had people come up to me and say that I look very rested. I’m glad that it shows. As I start to move into month two of my sabbatical, I will focus more on reflecting. I talk about my month of reflecting on this post. The month of rest seemed to fly by. It takes a while just to pull out of everything, slow down and try and be silent and still. Hawaii definitely helped that. And continually reading about the importance of Sabbath rest was helpful as well.
Today I have few more pictures from Hawaii and another quote from Wayne Muller’s book Sabbath: Find Rest, Renewal, and Delight in Our Busy Lives. So enjoy, and may they inspire you to rest and practice Sabbath regularly.
“During the week our work, our contributions to the well-being of our family and community are essential and necessary. But Sabbath time offers the gift of deep balance; in Sabbath time, we are valued not for what we have done or accomplished, but simply because we have received the gentle blessing of being miraculously alive. Just as the unborn child in the womb of its mother silently receives an endless supply of nourishment, warmth, and protection, so during Sabbath time, does the sweet womb of sacred rest enfold us, nourish us, heal and restore us.” p. 212.
