Urban Disciple by AJ Sherrill
I want to introduce you to one of the best discipleship resources that I have come across recently. It’s called Urban Disciple by AJ Sherrill, a friend of mine who pastors in New York at Trinity Grace, Chelsea.
Urban Disciple is designed for a discipleship group, where AJ takes us through the book of Matthew in such a way that we are exposed to the truth of scripture through the life of Jesus. We are then given thoughts on how to equip and disciple others. Finally we are provided some penetrating questions that cut to the heart, that cause us to think missionally, and that lead us into prayer. Every lesson follows this basic holistic pattern and is designed to be in sync with the Christian calendar.
Here is what I wrote for my endorsement of this resource, along with what Jon Tyson and Gabe Lyons have said about Urban Disciple.
“Like a good surgeon, AJ Sherrill takes God’s Word and cuts right to our hearts, laying them bare before a holy and loving God. As a prophetic teacher, he helps us cherish the Word in our hearts in such a way that we are motivated to pursue God’s shalom together in our cities, and equip others to do the same. This is one of the best new resources for communities who want to be and make missional disciples of Jesus today.”

“AJ Sherrill is doing a rare thing—having amazing success discipling believers of a new generation to be faithful to the Gospel, yet credible with their neighbors.”
Gabe Lyons, Founder of Q
“Urban Disciple is an essential resource at a time when re-centering discipleship on the life and ministry of Jesus has never been more urgent. This is a stellar personal devotional and a perfect group guide through Matthew. I fully endorse this resource for church’s of all sizes and denominations.”

Here is a short video where AJ describes in more detail about this new resource. I hope you take the time to check it out. You will not be disappointed. We need more resources like this.
